1. Our Privacy Philosophy
CleanBar is built with privacy as a foundational principle. We believe utility tools should be fast, quiet, and strictly local. CleanBar operates entirely on your Mac without storing, harvesting, or transmitting personal data.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
CleanBar does not collect, record, or transmit any of the following:
- Personal Identifiable Information: We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or user IDs.
- File Contents & Metadata: Your filenames, file paths, directory structures, and document contents remain strictly on your Mac.
- Usage Analytics & Behavior: We do not track how often you empty trash or which features you use.
- Device Identifiers: We do not collect MAC addresses, UUIDs, or hardware serial numbers.
3. Local File System Operations
When you perform trash calculations, auto-cleaning, or disk slim scans, CleanBar interacts directly with macOS file system APIs on local paths (such as ~/.Trash, ~/Library/Caches, and developer build caches). All calculations, indexing, and removals occur in memory and disk on your device.
4. Network Communications & Updates
The only network activity performed by CleanBar is checking for application software updates against our official static release endpoint (version.json). This standard HTTPS GET request sends no personal data, telemetry, or device fingerprints.
5. Third-Party Services & Trackers
CleanBar contains zero third-party analytics libraries (such as Google Analytics, Firebase, Mixpanel, or Facebook SDK). We do not display ads, sell data, or partner with advertising brokers.
6. Policy Updates & Contact
If we make changes to this privacy policy, updates will be reflected on this page. If you have questions or feedback regarding privacy, please reach out via @iextrastu on X.
